These Japanese teens are your new favourite cover bands

The AV Club’s ‘Great Job, Internet’ feature has turned up something pretty special. The Japanese teens behind a group of bands with rotating line-ups (all credited with the name “Beat Pops”) have a jam-packed YouTube channel featuring some seriously spot-on covers.

Artists embodied range from alt-rock (The Pixies, Weezer, Rage Against The Machine) to emo (The Promise Ring, Knapsack, American Football), the classics (Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Who) to deeper cuts (Devo, Television, The Pop Group). The aughts get their due (The Strokes, Bloc Party, Franz Ferdinand) as do even newer names (Paramore, DIIV, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart). Canadians are in the mix too (Avril Lavigne, Broken Social Scene, Mac DeMarco) along with some impressive takes on classic and contemporary Japanese artists (Yellow Magic Orchestra, Ogre You Asshole).
