He eventually paid the fan $20 for his t-shirt.

Fat Wreck Chords’ 25th anniversary tour made a Monday stop at Halifax’s Cunard Centre with headliners NOFX earning a few headlines for their audience interaction.

Mohawked frontman and label founder Fat Mike has a longstanding rep for his erratic onstage behaviour, but you’d think he’d be a bit more open minded given his advocation for alternative lifestyles. When a tie dye t-shirted man the band described as a “beardo” and a “hipster” appeared to be displeased with their warmup banter, Mike and guitarist El Hefe engaged in a bit of Todd Barry-style crowd work.

“You know, what? You have no business being here,” Mike sneered. “I will pay you $100 to leave this show. Are you going to stand in front and bother me all day with your fucking tie dye shirt and your beard?” The offending audience member clearly wasn’t interested in a ticket refund, but he was willing to take $20 for the shirt off his back. After passing the tie dyed item on stage, Mike booted it to the side and guitarist Eric Melvin got the final word: “Can we have that shirt escorted out of the building?”

Watch the interaction beginning at the 1:45 mark below:
