It only makes sense that the most metal animal would love heavy metal.

If your personal Venn diagram sees extreme metal and animal shows overlapping, you may already be aware of the parrot-fronted Hatebeak or dual-pitbull-led Caninus.

However, the hosts of the Discovery Channel’s Bride of Jaws (which could also be the name of an ultra-heavy band) have made another astonishing discovery: Sharks dig death metal! Watch this riveting clip to witness the tattooed underwater experts pipe the music of Washington’s Darkest Hour below the water to attract Great Whites. In the show’s own words “the dense tones of heavy metal simulate the low frequencies of struggling fish.”

In the end, these rumbling riffs enticed a few big catches, but weren’t able to draw in the prized 16-footer the crew had nicknamed “Joan of Shark.” Perhaps they should have tried something a bit softer.
