Rap group Migos throw down with an orchestra

They call it the "Trap Symphony Hannah Montana."
In their last few action-packed years, Atlanta, Georgia’s Migos have shared credits with everyone from Justin Bieber to Drake to R. Kelly. Now, they’ve landed their coolest and most surprising collaborators to date: A nine-piece classical orchestra.
For the first in a series of “Trap Symphonies” presented by streaming service Audiomack, the duo of 20-year-old fire-spitters Quavo and Takeoff brought the heat for their tribute to the Mileys of the world. Unfortunately, third Migos member Offset is currently held at Bulloch County Jail in Georgia following an April arrest. And while many of the orchestra members were unfamiliar with the rap group before this performance, they stepped up like Jay Z’s MTV Unplugged set with eerie strings, crisp breakbeats, and a strutting bassline. As one smirking collaborator noted, the song is “pretty nice with the bells.”
“This was a dope concept,” the rappers told The FADER. “We been influenced by all different types of music. People think of Migos and think of one type of music, but we gonna do it all.” We’ll find out just what that means when their debut album Yung Rich Nation hits the streets July 31.
