Band member Bob Nastanovich figures there's a "50/50" chance.

Could Pavement make an appearance on Stephen Colbert’s CBS Late Show? There’s a chance.

Bob Nastanovich (who might know a thing or two considering he’s a member of the beloved but long defunct indie-rock band) has indicated that an offer was extended to have Pavement perform on the program. The claim tumbled out during Nastanovich’s appearance on the podcast Pants OFF!. Let’s get to those big sexy quotes, shall we?

“Pavement’s supposed to play… if we can get it all together, we’ve been invited to play on the new Colbert show in like September,” he shared. “So that might be cool. Hopefully it’ll come off, right now it seems kind of 50/50.”

A rep for the band has piped up to stress that the chances are far lower than “50/50.”

“Contrary to internet rumours, there are no current plans for Pavement to reunite — neither for a tour nor for a late night television performance.” a spokesperson told Stereogum.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but the rep’s assessment syncs up pretty closely with frontman Stephen Malkmus’ alleged rejection of previous reunion-extending plans.

“It did not float,” said Nastanovich earlier this year of extra Pavement action. “It was a failed attempt.”

Adjust your hunger strikes accordingly.
