It turns out even the Führer got behind #shortlistBA.

In the months leading up to the Polaris Prize Shortlist announcement, a nationwide campaign was launched in support of B.A. Johnston, Canada’s hardest working hobo. The #shortlistBA movement didn’t pan out, but it did result in this immaculate take on the “Hitler Reacts” meme, adding new subtitles to a tense scene from the 2004 film Downfall.

This inside baseball grand slam is the work of hilarious Halifax artist Windom Earle, who has also been known to knock out a hyperactive cover of Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone” and delivered a music video using footage from the infamous Metallica Drummer.

In Hitler Reacts To The 2015 Polaris Music Prize Shortlist, the fired-up Führer asks the big questions: “Has Drake ever driven his mom’s minivan through New Brunswick in winter for a show in Sackville?” “How does a Ghostface Killah album qualify as Canadian?” “Did Staten Island and Hamilton switch places without me knowing?” When an officer argues that Polaris is not a lifetime achievement award and should be based on the album’s merit alone, Hitler has a follow-up as well: “Shit Sucks is the best album! It is a huge leap in quality for B.A. ‘Gonna End Up Working in Fort McMurray’ is heartbreaking. It’s a work of art!”
