The Straight Outta Compton soundtrack features new music from N.W.A.

Following the polarizing news of an N.W.A. reunion with Eminem replacing Eazy E, another bombshell has been dropped by the famed gangsta rap crew.

Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray previously stated that the film’s soundtrack by Dr. Dre will feature contributions from Em and Kendrick Lamar. In a fired-up radio interview, Ice Cube has now delivered word that the album will see a surprise release on August 1 and will include new music from N.W.A.

“He’s dropping something on August 1st… It’s mega, it’s Dr. Dre, it’s what everybody’s been waiting for,” said Cube. “It’s definitely a dope record, and he’s dropping it all on the same day.”

Dre’s long-delayed Detox album has been the subject of speculation for years, with some calling it the Chinese Democracy of hip-hop. The Aftermath/Beats CEO has confirmed that Detox was finally “scrapped”, making the news of this new release all the more exciting.
