Crowd violence is their Kryptonite.

It’s sad to admit that the last time we thought about post-post-grunge rockers 3 Doors Down, their bassist was charged with vehicular homicide. Two years later, that hasn’t stopped Escatawpa, Mississippi’s finest from doing what they do, and they’re now making headlines for pausing a concert to kick out a man who was getting too pushy. Watch a video shared by guitarist Chris Henderson.

This incident occurred in Broomfield, Colorado at a stop on the band’s tour with fellow 1990s survivors Seether. In the middle of a moody groove-out where no one should be slam-dancing, singer Brad Arnold put the brakes on the concert to call out the abusive audience member.

“Hang on, hang on, hang on. Hey, hey, homie. You don’t hit a woman,” Arnold exclaimed. “You just pushed a woman out of the way to get in a fight, you dick! Get him the hell out of here. You don’t hit a woman, dude.”

In a follow-up interview with CNN, Henderson described these actions as “chivalry at its best.” It’s clear that the frontman’s intentions were in the right place, and also somewhat hilarious that his takeaway from the whole ordeal is that maybe he shouldn’t have used swear words. Later on, Arnold apologized to the crowd for dropping a d-bomb.

“After the show he was like, ‘Man do you guys think I did the right thing?’ and we were like ‘Yeah!'” Henderson said, explaining that the band members had agreed his language was appropriate for the situation. “You can’t be afraid to stand up for what you believe.”
