The cuts have affected one of the magazine's best known writers.

Wenner Media is slashing staff and long-running mags like Rolling Stone, Us Weekly and Men’s Journal have felt the blade.

The Hollywood Reporter notes that a collection of senior level edit staffers have been laid off and that includes veteran RS scribe David Fricke. The mag’s managing editor made a point to note on Twitter that Fricke will still be contributing to Rolling Stone, although it appears it appears it will be a contract position outside of the office.

The cuts at Rolling Stone did not include the removal of editor Sean Woods. It should be noted that Woods was at the helm as deputy managing editor for last year’s retracted story about campus rape at the University of Virginia.
