The Van Halen guitarist says the singer isn't his friend or even a true rocker.

Eddie Van Halen has let his hurt feelings run wild in a new interview with Billboard. The Van Halen guitarist unleashed on spin-kick slinging singer David Lee Roth at first by blubbering that “he does not want to be my friend” but later calling him a rock and roll fraud.

Sounding not at all bitter, Van Halen says that Roth’s “perception of himself is different than who he is in reality,” suggesting in turn that he should stop dying his hair, like Van Halen has, because “we’re not in our 20s anymore.”

“We’re in our 60s. Act like you’re 60.”

It only gets better/bitter-er from there. Van Halen, who currently performs with his brother, Alex, and his son, Wolfgang, says that Roth is the only roadblock stopping that new Van Halen album nobody asked for.

“It’s hard, because there are four people in this band, and three of us like rock ’n’ roll. And one of us likes dance music.”

It’s worth pointing out here that even if Roth likes “dance music,” EVH is the kind of guy who boasts about not having bought an album since 1986, not knowing any Van Halen lyrics and never having listened to Radiohead or Guns ’N Roses. He’s also a total vape-dad, with interviewer Chuck Klosterman noting that he was “compulsively vaping” throughout their chat.

So, what’s worse: A rocker dad who thinks music died 30 years ago or a rocker uncle who does martial arts with his mic stand and loves to dance?
