9 Shania Twain videos we love forever and for always

After getting her heart broken in 2008 by ex-husband and producer Mutt Lange, everyone’s favourite country girl next door decided to take a break from music.

Two years later, Shania Twain took up a residency in Las Vegas. Now, the Twain is traveling the world for her farewell Rock This Country tour. If your heart just sank with the news that our dear Shania may never tour again — fear not! Think of all the artists that threatened goodbyes, but later came back to rock the house once again.

It’s probably not the be-all and end-all, but just in case it is I’ve whipped up a list of the most important Shania Twain music videos so we can sit and cry together.

“I’m Gonna Getcha Good” (2002)

This was the first single released from 2002’s Up! and spawned several versions of the video. The song was so popular that it began to chart in countries where Shania never had hits before.

“Any Man Of Mine” (1995)

Nothing says Canadian country star more than denim on denim and there is certainly no shortage of that in the video for “Any Man of Mine.” This tune catapulted Shania into fame and it remains an anthem for sweet and feisty females everywhere. With the perfect amount of twang and our introduction to her famous midriff, this video rightfully earned its spot on the list.

“Up!” (2003)

This song continued to fuel Shania’s ability to push country music successfully into the realms of pop. She released three versions of “Up!” on the album of the same name and, consequently, three versions of the video were also released. Extra big-ups for all those Canadian goodies she pulls out of that trunk.

“You Win My Love” (1996)

Racecars and leather bring “You Win My Love” to the forefront of popular Shania videos. This track made its mark as her third number one hit on country radio, proving she was a force to be reckoned with. Let us also take note of the popular ’90s makeup trends like metallic lipstick, dark exaggerated lip liner, and the fake beauty mark — all on point.

“Man! I Feel Like a Woman” (1999)

Arguably her best video, “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” hit all the marks effortlessly. This one pays homage to Robert Palmer’s “Addicted to Love” and “Simply Irresistible” videos with a gender role reversal. It also happens to be the ultimate anthem for a lot of women the world over.

“That Don’t Impress Me Much” (1998)

If anyone can make leopard print look good it’s gotta be Shania. If you don’t believe me then you definitely haven’t watched her video for “That Don’t Impress Me Much.” Here we see our beloved country star rocking a new blonde ‘do with a sleek look. She remains unimpressed with men, of course.

“Don’t Be Stupid (You Know I Love You)” (1997)

Remember back in the ’90s when Riverdance was cool? It happened, and like any smart musician, Shania decided to jump on the craze by auditioning dancers to perform for the entirety of her video for “Don’t Be Stupid.” The singer even joined in, and by the end all of the performers including Shania get rained on. So, there’s that.

“When” (1998)

This video is so different than anything else Shania had done prior (or after for that matter). Taking place in New York City, Shania’s ghost or angel or dream-Shania or whatever follows her former love around the city. Sure, it sounds a bit dark and creepy, but the song is beautiful and paired with whimsical imagery, so why not simply sit back and enjoy it?

“Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under” (1994)

Yo Snooki, Shania just called to tell you that she started that whole pouf thing way back in 1995. This video never answered many significant questions, like: “Why did all of those men ignore her when she was talking to them?” “Did anyone actually eat those undercooked breakfast dishes?” “And whose bed were those boots actually under?” If I ever meet Shania, these are the first questions I will ask her.
