I’m unsure whether there’s anything funnier on the Interwebs than the glorious “Drake the type” meme. If you haven’t had the pleasure of being exposed to it, I strongly suggest you dive in and make up for lost time. Basically, it’s a slew of fan-generated factoids (read: total lies) that alludes to the perception of Drake being overly emotional or even effeminate – traits that will, in hip-hop, pretty much ensure that you’re going to be ridiculed. Standouts include ones about crying in the shower and his horseback riding preferences. Gold. Now while – as any meme does – it’s  pretty much died out, similar jokes remain. That’s why the new clothing set from Drake and Co.’s OVO store is a little unfortunate.

What you’re looking at is a selection from OVO’s new Spring 2015 collection. And while at first glance it might look like OVO’s model is rocking cashmere from head to toe, that’s not the case (a fact that will no doubt be bemoaned by vocal cashmere aficionado Raekwon). Instead, the sweaters, hoodies and sweatpants on offer are actually cotton fleece – keeping them in the price range of us plebeians. Even the t-shirts, while not fleece, look seriously comfortable – I suspect wearing one feels like getting one long hug from the Snuggle bear.

Who am I kidding – I really want every single one of those items. I don’t care; when it gets too hot I’ll whip off my hoodie, tie it around my waist 90’s style and flex that t-shirt like – wait, what? OVO model dude already did that? That’s cool, just means we both have our fingers on the retro pulse.

In short, I think we should all thank Drake for being such a caring and clearly empathetic individual. Sensing what the people needed, he saw it fit to offer up a spring line that, while not out of reach for the average streetwear buyer, presumably feels like a million tiny angel kisses on your skin. In fact, his thoughtful ways have inspired me to prose, albeit a single line: “Drake the type that only designs t-shirts guaranteed not to irritate his ‘nip nips’.”

I’m bringing it back, son.
