"This movie isn't Dancing With Wolves."

Last week, we wrote about the Ridiculous Six, the controversial Adam Sandler movie that made headlines after more than a dozen native actors walked off set. In the wake of the controversy, plenty of voices emerged: The predictable “it’s just comedy!” crowd emerged, linking arms with First Amendment-defending libertarians; outrage spilled into Sandler’s camp, arguing that he should stick covering hockey players-turned-golfers; but one voice we certainly didn’t need to hear was Vanilla Ice’s.

But, naturally, the Iceman chimed in, after being asked about his opinion on the Ridiculous Six. And Robert Van Winkle, who plays Mark Twain (???) in the film, thinks that the protest towards the film is an overreaction. “It’s a comedy, I don’t think anyone had any ill feelings or intent. This movie isn’t Dancing With Wolves [sic], it’s comedy. It’s not like they’re there to showcase anything about anybody, they’re just making a funny movie.”

That’s a pretty contentious statement made by Ice, who added that he can “see both sides” because he’s part Choctaw. After all, even free-speech acolytes can agree that Ridiculous Six isn’t even funny: A recent leak of the script to Defamer saw characters with names like Beaver Breath, Sits-on-Face, and Stiff-in-Pants cited. Here’s an example of a punchline lifted directly from the script.

Well, two things are for certain: Ridiculous Six is certainly a Sandler-ian comedy. And we preferred That’s My Boy, the last Sandler-Ice collaboration. Watch Ice’s full statement below.
