A few weeks ago, after determining which U.S. regions loved Nickelback the most, we determined that Chad Kroeger and co. were the modern-day Eagles: A massively popular band that, somehow, managed to be universally loathed. (It prompted further debates over who which act we’d prefer. The answer, of course, is Limp Bizkit.)

But as easy as it is to blame Americans for Nickelback’s popularity, there’s one hard truth we have to swallow: Canada produced Nickelback, and love ’em or loathe ’em, they’re one of ours. And, according to a study conducted by Accuradio, they’re massively popular on their native soil.

The study’s findings, however, were surprising. Although we’d expect that Nickelback would be biggest in Western Canada—the truck-loving provinces that band calls home—as it turns out, they’re biggest in the East. Ontario, in fact, listens to more Nickelback than the rest of the country. B.C. and Alberta rank second and third in the Kroeger consumption index, but they’re also phenomenally popular in—wait for it—Quebec.

So, where would you go to escape Nickelback blaring from car stereos? Nickelback are the least popular in Nunavut, followed by the Northwest Territories, the Yukon, and PEI. Of course, these statistics may be skewed by population: Ontario is the most populous province, with 13 million people; Nunavut, meanwhile, has only 31,000 residents.

Still, as CBC points out, that’s one Nickelback play for every 1,000 people. Ontario clearly—if secretly—love Nickelback. Check out the full ranking below.
