One of the most tired arguments out there is that music was simply better back in the day. You’ve no doubt seen the memes — comparing Led Zeppelin’s Lord of the Rings rewrites to Nicki Minaj’s “Stupid Hoe” being the most popular.

That sentiment has gotten so sour that kids, like, legit 14-year-old kids have bought into it. And naturally, its inspired a meme in response. “Le Wrong Generation” is the 9gag response to “music died in 1979,” as middle school kids going through their Q107 phases cry that they were, you guessed it, born in Le Wrong Generation.

Anthony Fantano aims to prove them wrong in our latest collaboration with the Needle Drop. Here’s his list of albums that go to show how rich modern music is with creativity and top-notch musicians.
