It would seem that Dr. Dre will do anything he can to avoid finishing Detox because it’s 22 years later and we’re still learning new things about The Chronic.

Dre sat down with BigBoyTV for a rare interview and pretty casually revealed that Snoop Dogg’s legendary guest-spot on “Nuthin’ But A ‘G’ Thang” was while Snoop was behind bars.

“Snoop was actually in jail and I really wanted this demo done,” said the Doctor. “So, he called in and I taped the receiver of the phone to the mic.”

You can hear jail sounds in the back and everything. And he’s ‘1, 2’ and that whole thing. So, that was the original version.

The Chronic was recorded in the summer of 1992 at a time when Snoop was in and out of prison for various drug charges. Unfortunately, it’s tricky to pinpoint which.
