Shad will start on-air on April 20th.

After a four-month search to find a replacement for fired host Jian Ghomeshi, CBC Radio has named Shad as the new host of its juggernaut radio show Q.

“Joining the Q team is an honour. My mission in music has always been to make a unique and positive contribution to culture and to people’s lives,” Shad said in a statement. “This is an exciting opportunity to pursue that same mission in a new way, alongside a brilliant, passionate team.”

Shad initially hosted the program in January, and was met with mixed reception from listeners. Ultimately—and thankfully—none of the misguided negativity seemed to matter.

Executive director of CBC Radio Talk, Cindy Witten, said that management looked at more than 200 candidates for the job. Q will relaunch (but keep its name) with Shad on board starting April 20th. We can’t wait to listen.
