We have, in the past, focused on Eminem’s dark side. His violent, abusive rhymes, and the bus full of feuds he’s accumulated over the years. Still, his fans insist there is a divide between Marshall Mathers, Eminem and Slim Shady, and more often than not, the man behind the myth comes out on top.

Doctors had given 17-year-old Gage Garmo days to live when his family started a campaign to help him meet Eminem. The Detroit native suffers from Osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer, and has already lost a leg to the illness. He’s also a big Eminem fan and, with the help of a local radio station, his campaign to meet Shady quickly kicked into high gear.

And then with no fanfare, no announcements and seemingly no notice, Eminem came through. TMZ says he visited Gage at his house this weekend, spending a few hours just “talking and hanging out.”

We’re not sure what’s in the water down there, but between Em, Kid Rock and Insane Clown Posse’s charitable touch, we’re thinking Detroit’s bad boys aren’t so bad after all. [h/t Uproxx]
