As far as we know, Dr. Dre isn’t a practising Judaist. We do, however, know that the producer-turned-entrepreneur is all about branding. And so while it might ultimately get cease and desisted, we’re betting he’s totally on board with Hannah Rothstein’s Dr. Dreidel.
Rothstein told ABC News that the idea came out of an equal love for hip-hop and puns, explaining that she landed on the concept after “weeks” of brainstorming about holiday puns.
“The more delight I can bring the world, the better,” she said. “I want to be a fun-gineer.”
See? Lady loves puns. She hasn’t made the product available yet, but says she hopes to in the future. And while Dr. Dre will likely cease and desist this thing the second it hits shelves, we know that beneath his shrewd business exterior he’s wishing he came up with the idea sooner.
Per Rothstein’s website, here’s how the laser-etched design pans out with the dreidel’s traditional rules:
Hanukkah starts today and runs through December 24th. Hanukkah Sameach!
