With the Polaris-short listed Hot Dreams, Timber Timbre took a major step forward. As with Creep On Creepin’ On, Taylor Kirk’s spooky murder ballads still took centre stage, but elsewhere, the album dabbled in new sounds: Austere folk, saxohpone-driven slow jams, and dystopic, David Lynch-ian ballads studded Hot Dreams, which made it Kirk’s most varied, but immediately likeable, effort yet. As evidenced by his beyond-sold-out Massey Hall performance last May, Timber Timbre’s creates an immersive, unforgettable live experience—and that’s why we’ve wrangled a pair of tickets to their upcoming Lee’s Palace show on December 11.
