Sound collages from space? Ships launching? "Houston, we have a problem"-esque launch commentary? IT'S ALL HERE.

So, we’ll just leave this right here: NASA has a Soundcloud page. What kind of recordings, you might ask, is NASA collecting? Sound collages from outer space? Audio from spaceship launches? “Houston, we have a problem”-esque launch commentary?

Well, yeah. Duh.

Because, see, NASA doesn’t mess around with irony. Instead, their Soundcloud is displays everything that NASA stands for, and they stand for, uh, space exploration. And the music of space exploration isn’t like, Brian Eno or some shit. No, quite literally, it’s rocket sounds. And NASA’s Soundcloud is full of them.

Take, for example, their latest set, elegantly titled “Rocket Engine Sounds.” We’d describe it as a blend of ambient field recordings, a wall of noise, or an ambitious foray into power electronics, but they described it even better: They’re rocket engine sounds.

Next, check the chilling ambient of of the Solar System and Beyond set, which wouldn’t be complete without the sound of stardust. Not Ziggy Stardust. Just stardust.

Of course, if it’s the sound of a human voice ye seek, NASA’s Soundcloud also features plenty of launch commentary, guiding yet another shuttle to a successful trip to outer space.

Of course, no NASA Soundcloud page would be complete without a President Kennedy collab. He is, after all, the dude who announced the decision to go to the moon.

Of course, we’re getting off track here. NASA’s Soundcloud is about launch sounds. And even more launch sounds. Here’s 30 seconds of pure gold, and when you’re done, be sure to listen to slime-punk act NASA Space Universe.
