More often than not, Snoop Dogg is just out there, living life, having fun and helping out a good cause whenever possible.

One of his passions is youth football, an institution he’s only be come closer to in the last decade thanks to his son, Cordell Broadus, a top-flight wide receiver prospect currently being courted by basically every NCAA program on the map. Last week, Snoop recruited Flavor Flav for Cordell’s school fight song, but at that same time, Tha Doggfather was helping to save an entire league in Iowa.

On Tilt, Snoop is spearheading a crowdfunding campaign—to which he’s already donated $5000 of his own money—to provide safer equipment for the Inner City Development League in Des Moines. Without new equipment, helmets especially, the league cannot continue. Rightfully, Snoop sees these leagues as an environment where kids can prosper, stay out of trouble, stay in shape and form lifelong bonds.

As we write this, the campaign is sputtering, with only $6,168 put towards its $20,000 goal, most of which is straight out of Snoop’s pockets. They have 13 days to hit their mark.

Certainly Snoop can supplement that extra cash without leaving even the smallest crease in his wallet, and we’re certain he would if it came to that, but the intent is worth noting regardless. In Los Angeles, Snoop has spent the past ten years mentoring and coaching kids in his Snoop Youth Football League. [h/t THR]
