Do you remember that Simpsons episode where Bart, Milhouse, Nelson, and Ralph form the Party Posse and accidentally partake in a massive brainwashing effort to convince kids to join the Navy? That’s kind of what the U.S. government is doing in Mexico.
Corridos are traditional Mexican ballads that rely on narratives to tell a story in full, and their presence in South American culture is so prominent that the U.S. Border Control has started writing anti-immigration songs, or “migra corridos,” to effectively discourage people entering the country illegally.
