Or are they just trying to avoid getting sued?

Last year, Bring Me the Horizon singer Oli Sykes said he was told to stop encouraging mosh pits at Vans Warped Tour dates. People ran with it, and quickly rumours swirled that slam dancing had been banned outright from the festival. It turned out to be an exaggeration, with festival founder Kevin Lyman clarifying that moshing was fine for fans, but that the bands had to make a point to absolve themselves of responsibility by no longer encouraging it. And that makes sense: Warped Tour is filled with kids whose parents mostly don’t get it; many of whom raise tedious, time and cost consuming lawsuits when little Jimmy wreaks his arm opening up that pit.

But it turns out that wasn’t the end of it. This year, the effort seems to have doubled. On Friday, Warped Tour 2014 started. Here’s what some fans spotted on the grounds:

Like Lambgoat points out, they’re unlikely to enforce it. And having worked events security extensively in the past, doing so is next to impossible. Like with Sykes last year, they’re mostly absolving themselves of responsibility. It’s like the fine print on the back of your ticket, only really, really big. Maybe that’s the only way their audience’s parents can read it?
