Will Ferrell and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith have always maybe been the same person. Like, look at them.

But when they finally, publicly acknowledged their similarities back in February, the duo decided to have some fun with it. After a back and fourth on who was impersonating whom, Smith and Ferrell decided, on Reddit, natch, that they’d settle their differences (or celebrate their similarities) in a charitable drum battle.

They did just that last night on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. While dressed identically, Smith and Ferrell ran through fills and puns, with Ferrell joking that Smith played for the “Luke Warm Chili Peppers” while pantomiming on the kit. Sure, it was a farce, but relax—it was for charity, and drum solos are stupid anyway.

In the end, Smith raised money for Little Rock Kids while Ferrell did the same for Cancer for College. And in turn, some of your moms and dads had a giggle. Unfortunately Snoop Lion wasn’t there to judge.

We especially liked the part where Will Ferrell started a joke and then got louder as he told it. That guy is hilarious.

(But seriously, stay tuned for a classic nod to a now infamous Saturday Night Live sketch. You know the one…)
