If you’re at all involved in the music world, you’ve no doubt met someone with either a treble clef or music note tattooed somewhere on their body. And that’s a fitting tribute to something you love, but what if you could turn that ink into something more literal?

Moscow artist Dmitry Moscow is doing just that when his “reading my body” project, which uses a pretty intricate machine to turn his arm tattoo into music. It works kind of like a scanner, using everything from parts of a synth to a Wiimote to scan his ink and transpose it musically. And while the device looks more than a little clunky right now, its application is absolutely fascinating.

Hear it do its thing above. If you’d like to, read up on the project here. [via Create]
