I’ve been watching Faces On Film (aka Boston’s Mike Fiore) for years now, checking in every couple of months to see what new music he’s making. I became a fan back in 2005, after hearing the song “Beginners” off the Seven Sisters EP that a friend passed along to me. Since then, I’ve always been convinced of his talent, wondering why more people don’t know about this band.

He later released two albums (2008’s “The Troubles” and 2011’s “Some Weather”), painting an audio mosaic of “watercolor vocals soaked in reverb told stories and shrouded in mystery but full of emotion”. Faces On Film are now back with a new record called Elite Lines, out March 25th. Recorded both at home and at Q Division Studios in Somerville, Mass., with engineer-producer Rafi Sofer, Fiore channels the influence of songs like Harry Nilsson’s majestic version of “Many Rivers to Cross,” the rumbling bass and R&B beat of Frank Ocean’s “Swim Good,” and the cosmic country of Neil Young’s “I Believe You” to craft this latest record.

Take a listen to the album’s second single “Heartspeed.”
