Track Of The Week: "Giving You Up" by Silkken Laumann

Happy New Year!  2013 is in the books and looking into 2014, I’m expecting a great year for new music.

Case in point,  dance-rock band Silkken Laumann. No, not the Olympian (note the extra “k” in Silkken). I’m talking about the Ottawa-based foursome comprised of The Acorn‘s Rolf Klausener and Pat Johnson, who teamed up with Adam Saikaley and Gary Franks. I remember seeing/hearing their song “On The Mend” a year ago, but now they’re starting 2014 running with their debut album, Not Forever Enough, available free online. The eight-song effort includes the aforementioned “On the Mend,” and another I’d like to point out, “Giving You Up.”

Are we heading for a big year on the dancefloor? Probably way too early to call at this point, but I wouldn’t mind it.
