As another year comes to a close, I looked back on all the posts I’ve put together these many fridays, searching for any artists I might have missed putting up here. Based on the amount of new bands I’m liking and sharing weekly, there’s a ton of artists I just won’t have the opportunity to feature here on AUX. But, as I made myself choose just one, I’m able to pass along this tune from London trio London Grammar.

The three (Hannah Reid, Dot Major, and Dan Rothman) all met while at university together and have got quite a few lovely songs in that ambient, ethereal, trip-hop genre. Their music features melancholy guitars and minimal drums, but most noticeably, the soaring vocals of Hannah Reid’s brooding and powerful voice. In September the band released the single “Strong,” which if I were to describe in one sentence, sounds like Florence Welch fronting The xx. Like this, without the dubstep.

Take a listen to “Strong.”
