Y’all, NXNE never sleeps. Even though we’re in the thick of winter, it feels like the 2013 edition of the fest just wrapped—we had an excellent time there, by the way—but the Toronto music-arts-film-digital extravaganza is back at it again, announcing their first wave of names for 2014.

There are already several heavy hitters among the bunch: Indie institution St. Vincent seems destined to headline Yonge and Dundas Square; one-time AUX Magazine cover star Danny Brown‘s in the mix; 2012’s summer-fest MVPs Run the Jewels, a.k.a. Killer Mike and El-P, have signed on; and Montreal prankster Mac Demarco, who’s promising a new LP in the coming months, are among 2014’s most noteworthy.

But there’s also depth beyond its headliners. Syrian music legend Omar Souleyman, rap great Juicy J, Massachussetts indie act Speedy Ortiz, and a rock-solid Toronto contingent—see: Rhye, Odonis Odonis, and speaker Oliver El-Khatib, who’s OVO’s creative director—round out the first announcement. The event’s dates have been announced, too, and the fest will run between June 18-22. Guys, it’s all happening again, and we couldn’t be happier.

Since we’re talking NXNE, by the way, be sure to check our oral history of the event, as well as this handy infographic outlining key moments in NXNE history.
