Moby’s porn-store sci-fi Christmas movie musical

It’s kind of insane to think of how popular Moby was at the height of his popularity. Play wasn’t just big, it was monumental, closing out with nine chart topping singles to Thriller’s seven. Think about that for a second.
Moby was smart about it, licensing the entire album for commercial use, essentially painting himself into a critical and commercial corner that gave him the freedom to do pretty much whatever he wanted. And in 2002, he did just that with Alien Sex Party, a Christmas movie that’s been described as “Clerks in a porn shop,” only with aliens.
Oh, and it’s also a musical. As Play’s success continued to skyrocket, Moby tried to distance himself from the production, even asking to be edited out entirely. Lucky for us, that didn’t happen.
Basically, This Exists and it’s super fucking weird.
