Grooveshark has seen its share of struggles over the years, but holy hell does this one take the cake. According to St. Petersburg Police, the company’s director of international sales was kidnapped and killed this weekend in Florida.

The Gainesville Sun reports that Eddy Vasquez, 27, was out club hopping on Saturday to celebrate his friend Andres Torres’ birthday when, at 4 in the morning, the two got into an altercation. It quickly escalated, culminating in Torres shooting Vasquez twice in the chest with a .40-calibre pistol.

The latest update says Torres was arrested on charges of armed kidnapping and second-degree murder, noting that cops found the murder weapon in his apartment.

“Mr. Vasquez was visiting friends and family in the Tampa Bay area over the weekend when he fell victim to a senseless act of violence,” said Grooveshark VP of Marketing Michael Yeon in an official statement. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of our dear friend and colleague.”
