It’s a great piece of trivia that Jim Carrey’s love of death metal got Cannibal Corpse in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, and now his love of another iconic heavy act has founds its way into his work. The catch? It’s his new children’s book.

A practising Buddhist and progressive thinking musical etherealist, Cynic’s Paul Masvidal is far from the gore-driven stereotypes of his peers, but his involvement in Jim Carrey’s How Roland Rolls is incredibly cool nonetheless. Though they can’t source it, MetalSucks says Masdival’s worked on children’s music in the past, which maybe led to his work on the book’s accompanying music.

Masvidal acted primarily as a producer on the eBook and EP’s songs, which is focused largely around Jim Carrey and his daughter, Jane Carrey. Watch them all work together in the video below (the parts concerning music kick in at around the two minute mark). Below that, Cynic’s “Evolutionary Sleeper.”

How Roland Rolls is in stores now.
