Pleasence Records is slated to release a split 12-inch between Taiwan and Hobo Cubes next week.

Toronto’s Pleasence Records have perpetually skirted the line between pop and experimentation with releases from Slim Twig, Man Made Hill and AUX fave Sexy Merlin. However, their most inspired pairing to date is an upcoming 12-inch split from Edmonton’s nightmarish lounge lizards Taiwan and Montreal’s warped electronic mastermind Hobo Cubes.

While Taiwan channel David Lynch collaborator Angelo Badalamenti at his most eerie, Hobo Cubes lifts off into an alien jetstream of Sun Ra-inspired space-jazz. Stream both sides of the record below. And, for Toronto residents, make sure to catch a rare appearance from both artists on Saturday, August 24 at the Red Cherry Bar & Grill. Event details can be found right here.
