The Replacements played their first show in 22 years last night when they took the stage to close out Riot Fest’s Toronto stop, but as reviews start to trickle out the feeling of missing out has to be increasing for any ‘Mats fans that couldn’t make it to the city’s Historic Fort York.

Thankfully, Joe of Mechanical Forest Sound has got you covered. He brought his gear to the gig and recorded the entire thing, compiling it all into a neat little MP3 package you can easily download here.

Clocking in at just over an hour-fifteen, the recordings aren’t perfect, but then the Replacements never were. Even with a bit of banter from nearby crowd members and some on stage goofs by the band, this is likely the closest you’ll get to being there. And even if you were, chances are you’ll be slapping on your headphones to experience it all over again.

22 years is a long time. Our photos from Riot Fest Day 1 can be seen here, and look for Day 2 (including more like the above shot of the Replacements) later today.
