It was a bad sign for OVO Fest ticket holders when headliner Frank Ocean shredded his vocal chords last week and now the inevitable has happened: day one of the Toronto festival has been cancelled, with co-headliner James Blake's set getting pushed to the following day.

It was a bad sign for OVO Fest ticket holders when headliner Frank Ocean shredded his vocal chord last week and now the inevitable has happened: day one of the Toronto festival has been cancelled, with co-headliner James Blake’s set getting pushed to the following day and Ocean given the time off to rest and recuperate.

But here’s the thing: while many ticket holders grabbed a seat for both days, each was still being marketed individually. That’s going to cause more than a few problems. Live Nation says ticket holders for August 4th will be offered refunds, but doesn’t specify the circumstances. What if you purchased a ticket solely to see James Blake, and what if you did so at an exorbitant cost? Live Nation confirms that Day 2 of the festival is completely sold out. You’ll get your money back, sure, but yikes.

The Molson Canadian Amphitheatre has an official capacity of about 16,000, which anyone who’s ever been to OVO Fest in the past will tell you doesn’t mean much. In its early years, Drake’s annual party has seen the venue’s lawns oversold to the point of absurdity.

We’re still not sure who will be joining James Blake on Day 2 besides Drake and Wale, but Drizzy’s expected to bring out his usual bag of tricks for the night. He’ll never top Stevie Wonder, but with some presumably irate fans, he might have to this year.
