30 Seconds To Mars asked fans to film themselves getting lyric tattoos for new video

Earlier this week, 30 Seconds to Mars asked fans to submit videos of themselves getting 30 Seconds to Mars lyrics tattoos to use in a lyric video.

A message posted on their website said, pretty plainly:

Along with some technical asks (try to use a tripod!), the band had three very strict requests should fans want to make the cut:

– Say “I AM THE ECHELON” before your tattoo footage
– Tell us WHY you’re getting the lyric tattooed
– And be sure to get CLOSE UPS of the area tattooed BEFORE, DURING, and AFTER

PRETTY BIG ASK, GUYS. No doubt they’ll get a ton of submissions, but some fans haven’t responded too kindly, taking to the comments with sadface emoticons and “I hope this is a joke” sentiments. (Though one user is all “guys it’s cool I already have a Mars tattoo.”)
