For a culture that loves money as much as hip-hop, it’s impressive how bad with money rappers seem to be. According to Reuters, Fat Joe is the latest in a long line of MC’s nailed for tax evasion.

For a culture that loves money as much as hip-hop, it’s impressive how bad with money rappers seem to be. According to Reuters, Fat Joe is the latest in a long line of MC’s nailed for tax evasion.
They say he never bothered filing tax returns on more than $3 million in income, earning him a $15,000 fine and four months in the clink. He caught a break from the court because of his charity work, with the court apparently receiving a huge whack of letters citing the guy’s good graces.
And for what it’s worth, he’s taking responsibility for the mistake.
“There was a lot going on in the years that I didn’t file my taxes, but it was my responsibility,” he said.
We know that rappers love Scarface more than any one should, but their insistence on going Capone with their money is a little concerning. Get an accountant, people—it’s cheaper than a Maybach.
