For just $75,000 you could have Canadian icon (and overtly proud ex-patriot) Rufus Wainwright write you a song.

Don’t worry, it’s for a good cause.

As part of the Kate McGarrigle Foundation, Wainwright is offering his songwriting services to help raise money towards the fight against Sarcoma, which took McGarrigle’s life in 2010.

Bidding is actually only at $40,000, but with the auction open until July 10th, it could very easily reach the buy it now price of $75,000. Whichever happens first will close the deal.

As far as what he’ll write, the circumstances are vague.

“The lucky winner and Rufus will get together one afternoon so that he can get to know you and begin the process,” reads the silent auction page. “Then he will compose a song, record it and present you with a cd!”

From there, it’s stipulated that the song could be on an album, in an opera or in a film. Maybe on iTunes. But whatever the case, it should end up as money well spent. Just don’t suggest a song about farts.
