Avenged Sevenfold is a band that still exists, apparently, and good for them. But in the wake of them announcing their new album Hail to the King and its August 27th release date comes the cover art reveal, and... this can't be serious.

Avenged Sevenfold is a band that still exists, apparently, and good for them. But in the wake of them announcing their new album Hail to the King and its August 27th release date comes the cover art reveal, and… this can’t be serious.

There’s a lot happening on the cover, from the disparate fonts to bizarre colour scheme, but all in all its the combination of factors that makes Hail to the King‘s album art look like its straight out of Dungeons and Dragons fanfiction. That airbrushing? Yikes.

This belongs on the side of someone’s van, not in record stores. But whatever the case, that’s where you’ll find it on August 27th.

And as a side note: go to the band’s website and you’ll notice the title page for the album is written as H4ILT0TH3KING. Why? Who knows. [via Metal Sucks]
