The helicopter drone army won Intel an extremely specific Guinness record.

Dude, you’re getting a Drone Hell! Nothing says 2016 like a swarm of 100 remote-controlled quadcopter drones doing a gaudy light show while classical music plays. “Music is the mediator between the spiritual and the sensual life… and also between man and sick unmanned aircraft tech!” – Ludwig van Beethoven, 1801, in Vienna.

Not content with their world record for most Dudes gotten Dells, Intel has earned the Guinness title for Most Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Airborne Simultaneously by launching 100 of the damned things, and having them do a choreographed routine and light show to Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony. Well, anything to knock the CIA out of the top spot, I guess.

The buzzing, ominous swarm was controlled from the ground by a cluster of PCs running Intel software at an airfield in Germany back in November. The footage, which was only released last week during Intel CEO Brian Krzani’s keynote speech at the Consumer Electronic in Las Vegas, is suitably epic (and super disorienting):

No word if Intel was also gunning for the Most Unnecessary Jarring Cuts in a Promo Video record, but they should win that one as well.
