Here’s a fun game: next time you’re at a party and there’s a laptop playing music, take it hostage and play this 45-minute clip of assorted Paul Stanley stage banter instead. If anybody’s left by its end, congratulations, your friends have had too much to drink.

As to why this exists, the easy answer is “the internet,” but I’m at least glad it does. Sure, it’s tedious, but there are incredible highlights throughout, like when, ten minutes in, Stanley goes on an extended series of vocal runs and confusingly asks the crowd to help him out.

There’s also his incessant pandering to the obviously drunken KISS crowds, repeatedly asking if they like the taste of alcohol, or if anyone in the crowd is hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh. At another point, he introduces “Detroit Rock City” as a song about “a city that rock and rolls,” and towards the end he says the KISS Army can’t be stopped by terrorism.

“The way to stop those evil people is to smile, is to enjoy your life, is to let freedom ring and let them know there is no stopping America!”

Throughout the lengthy compilation Stanley keeps one thing consistent: he’s here to rock because you, the fans, deserve it. But we think respect is earned, not deserved, and if you make it through this, you’ve successfully earned ours. Us? We’ll admit to more than a bit of pan-and-scanning.

This comes care of Christopher Armes on Soundcloud. We can’t imagine how much actual banter he had to sift through to end up with this mix, but his work makes him a champion among men. Or something.
