Fans of second-wave emo, pop-punk, and all things deep-fried, rejoice: Mark Trombino, drummer for celebrated post-hardcore act Drive Like Jehu, has opened up a restaurant called Donut Friend. While a punk chef-run eatery isn’t anything new—Against Me!’s former drummer Warren Oakes, for example, now runs a taco shop in Florida—Donut Friend boasts a punny list of menu items, all referencing punk or emo bands of yore. Like toasted hazelnuts and Dave Smalley? Try their Dag Nutty donut. Fancy yourself more of a vanilla cake and Ian MacKaye type? Try the Rites of Sprinkles. Do you have an insatiable appetite for sweets and Bleed American? Try the Jimmy Eat Swirl.

Here’s the full menu:

Located in Los Angeles, Trombino—who also produced albums by Blink-182 and Jimmy World—opened what looks like a standard-fare artisanal donut haunt, sculpting their creations from “organic fruit, artisan jams, gourmet cheeses, roasted nuts, and homemade creams and sauces.”

According to the site, Trombino opened the shop after having a life-changing experience with a peach donut.

“After 25 years behind the board, Mark was looking for something new to put his energy into when he stumbled upon a small donut shack in northeastern Los Angeles,” Donut Friend’s site explains. “There he had the good fortune to try a glazed donut filled only with fresh peaches – something so simple and delicious it made him wonder why nobody else was doing it.”

We were wondering the exact same thing.
