After kicking Scott Weiland out of the band once and for all, Stone Temple Pilots are relaunching with nu-metal maestro Chester Bennington of Linkin Park fame as their new frontman. STP debuted the new lineup over the weekend at KROQ’s Weenie Roast festival in a special unannounced surprise performance.

Bennington reportedly did classics like “Sex Type Thing” and “Vaseline” reasonable justice, and the band debuted a new song called “Out Of Time,” which you can check out via the Soundcloud embed below. Linkin Park won’t be affected by Bennington’s new endeavour, but the newly formed version of STP (which is all original, aside from Chester) has yet to announce plans for anything beyond this initial performance and song release.

What do you guys think of Chester’s voice on “Out Of Time”? Does his nasally screech mesh with the Dean DeLeo brothers’ signature amped-up riffage?
