On what is nearly the one year anniversary of his death, a park and playground in Brooklyn Heights has been renamed after Adam “MCA” Yauch, of the Beastie Boys.

Brooklyn’s Palmetto Playground was renamed after MCA today, at a small naming ceremony attended by NYC Parks & Rec officials, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, Ad-Rock, Beastie Boys manager John Silva, and Yauch’s mother, who told everyone that Yauch actually learned to ride a bike at that same playground during a short speech.

According to the New York Post, the movement to rename Palmetto Playground “Adam Yauch Park” grew out of a post on the Brooklyn Heights Blog that caught a lot of fan attention on Facebook.

Check out some photos of the newly-renamed Adam Yauch Park below, courtesy of Twitter user @stephen_nessen. Brooklyn, it looks like you finally have a place to go where you can sip the def ale with all the fly women.
