When Mad Decent-signed rapper RiFF RAFF claimed that actor James Franco would be playing a character inspired by him in the Harmony Korine film Spring Breakers, it seemed totally plausible. Franco plays the role of “Alien,” an oddball rapper/drug-dealer with braids and southern drawl. The similarities between Franco’s character and RiFF RAFF are undeniable, though Franco later contradicted RiFF RAFF’s claim, saying that he and Korine looked at many different rappers for inspiration. Franco noted that while RiFF RAFF was certainly one of these rappers, a Florida street rapper named Dangeruss ended up being their main inspiration.

RiFF RAFF called out Franco, arguing that while the storyline has nothing to do with him, Franco is clearly mimicking his image, including his braids, colored beads, grill, rings and colourful clothes. Based on the image above, we think he has a point.

Now RiFF RAFF is showing off his acting chops through an appearance on the soap opera One Life To Live, and the character he’ll be playing is clearly a tongue-in-cheek nod to the Spring Breakers beef with Franco.

RiFF RAFF will appear as “Jamie Franko” on One Life To Live on May 7th, and you can see him in character via the screen cap below. Well played, Jody Highroller.
