Jack White’s latest parlour trick was a vintage 1947 Voice-o-Graph machine that recorded 2-minutes of audio straight to a 6″ phonograph, and naturally White himself took the opportunity to test it out on Record Store Day. Check out his quick rendition Loretta Lynn’s “Coal Miner’s Daughter.”

Crazier still, word out of Nashville is that Neil Young himself also got into the booth to cut a track. Unfortunately that’s about all we know on that, but we’ll share the song if it ever surfaces. A Jack White collectors forum says that Third Man has a digital copy of Young’s recording while Neil himself made off with the actual record.

As for the booth, it’s still open at the Third Man Records Novelty Lounge in Nashville, Tennessee.
