Well, it’s officially the future. Australian electro-house duo Knife Party are making their new EP Haunted House, which will be released May 6th via Big Beat Records, available for purchase with Bitcoins. Are you confused yet? Don’t worry, us too.

If you need a crash course in Bitcoins, head over to Complex for a detailed walkthrough, but here’s our basic understanding. Bitcoin is a digital currency, designed as peer-to-peer electronic cash system. It’s not managed by any central authority, and the creation and transfer of Bitcoins is managed by open source cryptographic protocol. UGH, my head hurts. I’m not an economist (check my bank account for proof), but basically, Bitcoins are virtual money, and you can use them to buy all kinds of sketchy shit on the Internet.

Knife Party’s new EP will not only be available through all of your typical digital outlets, you’ll also be able to buy it with Bitcoins starting on May 6th.

So yeah, welcome to the future, everybody. Leave it to an EDM artist to change the game and make us all feel like we’re in the movie Hackers.
