The worst part of having neighbours is the impending noise war that happens when both parties are too immature to speak up before things get carried away.

Such is the case in Sweden, where a couple is charged with harassment after pointing two sets of speakers—one off their balcony and one in the cellar—towards their neighbours place and blasting Iron Maiden’s “Afraid to Shoot Strangers.” The twist here is that the accused aren’t the prototypical metal fans: they’re 71 and 81 years young respectively.

They told police that they were retaliating after an irritating whistling noise kept coming from next door.

“We wanted to give a taste of their own medicine,” said the husband. His wife said she had to take sleeping pills to crash through the noise.

It must have been one hell of a whistling sound, though, because The Local says the music blared throughout the winter often until as late as 4am.

“The harassment has just carried on, I am completely broken down,” said the victim. “How can I keep living here?”
