Pig Destroyer have just released a new, previously unheard EP dedicated to the memory of Pat Egan, a Relapse Records executive who died last month from complications with pneumonia.

Like the Patlapse compilation released last week, all proceeds from Pig Destroyer’s Mass & Volume will go towards a college fund for Egan’s daughter, Katie.

“Pat Egan was a friend and a keystone member of the Relapse family for many of the years we have been involved with it,” said the band in a statement. “He devoted his life to supporting underground music and he immeasurably helped develop the bands he worked with. His untimely passing on February 18, 2013 shocked the many people that his life and work had touched.”

With just two tracks Mass & Volume manages to be surprisingly long for an album by the usually concise band, clocking in at close to 30-minutes long. The songs were recorded during the Phantom Limb sessions and, according to a press release, serve as “a great epilogue to that particular era of the band.” Fans of Natasha should know what to expect going into the EP, but anyone looking for the band’s usually biting brand of grind might be surprised with what they hear. Either way, support the cause (and check out the music) over at Bandcamp.
